Ive been gone for a long time, but I've finally gotten my love of writing kinda back. My new book is called: The Adventures of a Beauty Queen. Its going to be about a young pageant winner who finds out that many of her competators in the Miss Preteen America contest have been kidnapped, and she and a friend have to find the kidnappers before it is too late. Ok so it may be a common plotline but I hopefully can make the characters original. Though when you think of pageant queen's you think of these common sterotypes:
1. A spoiled rotten, stupid girl who cares only for her looks and nothing about others
2. A emotionally damaged girl who is only doing pageants to please her mother
Now its kinda hard to go beyond those sterotypes, but Im still working on it. I hope to write more, and update my blog more often. Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteI like stereotypes, they're a fun challenge to get around - and when you do come up with an original twist, it makes it that much better.
You just need to find Reason #3.
Is your BQ (beauty queen) being in pageants to prove some sort of point?
Is she doing it because she knows if she doesn't, someone will get hurt?
Did her psychologist suggest it as a way to get over crippling shyness?
Is she doing it because her family is poor and they need the money the fame will bring?
There are a lot of ways that could go - have fun with it!!
